This training seminar teaches healthcare professionals how
to use the PCMS with
over fifty tools, exercises, resources and information modules
as aids to steer patients through the cancer process. The
CPA training seminar includes lectures from practicing Cancer
Patient Advocates and illustrative case studies brought to
life in an interctive format using professional actors. The
seminar trains physicians, psychologists and psychiatrists
to deliver a needed service and retain cancer patients as
their coach and guide, before, during and after they have
seen their oncologists. Skills taught through their Cancer
Patient Advocate training seminars include ways to manage
and advise patients directly or by referral how to:
Sort out treatment options
Make medical, complementary medicine, quality of life
& lifestyle decisions
Prepare and/or script for more productive patient/physician
meetings
Deal with emotional & psychological, personal and
family issues
Indentify and access second opinions, C/IM practioners,
pain management teams, support groups, clinical trials,
internet information & other resources
The Porrath Cancer Patient Advocate Training Program is offered
as a continuing medical and psychological education course.
Course and Round Table = 9.5 credits.
